How to Paste Plain Text on Mac
You copy a sentence from a webpage. You paste it into an email. Suddenly your email has a different font, a colored background, and a link you did not want. Here is how to fix that for good.
Option 1: The Keyboard Shortcut
- 1 Press ⌘⇧⌥V instead of ⌘V.
- 2 This is "Paste and Match Style" and strips formatting in most apps.
- 3 The problem: it is a four-key combo that is hard to remember and does not work everywhere.
Option 2: SaneClip Smart Paste
- ✓ Three paste modes: Standard (keep formatting), Plain Text (always strip), and Smart (auto-detect).
- ✓ Smart mode auto-detects: code pastes as plain text, URLs get cleaned, everything else keeps its original formatting.
- ✓ ⌘⇧⌥V pastes as plain text instantly from anywhere, no menu needed.
- ✓ Set once, forget: Choose your default paste mode in Settings and every paste works the way you want.
