How to Exclude Apps from Clipboard History on Mac
You want clipboard history for most apps — but not for your banking app, not for password managers, and not for that HR portal where you paste Social Security numbers. Some apps should simply never appear in your history.
Option 1: The Hard Way (Manual)
- 1 Pause your clipboard manager before opening sensitive apps.
- 2 Remember to un-pause it when you're done. (You won't.)
- 3 Search through history to manually delete items from sensitive apps you forgot to exclude.
Option 2: The Sane Way (SaneClip)
- ✓ App Exclusion List: Add any app to the exclusion list in Settings. Copies from that app are silently ignored — they never enter history.
- ✓ Built-In Password Manager Detection: 1Password, Bitwarden, LastPass, Dashlane, and KeePass are automatically detected. No setup needed.
- ✓ Always Active: No pausing required. Exclusions work in the background. Everything else is captured normally — only the apps you exclude are skipped.
